We are pleased to present Beverly McNeil (Essence of Nature Photography) as our Featured Artist for October 2016. Beverly, a local member of Port Townsend Gallery, has lived on the Olympic Peninsula since 2004. Prior to that she resided in Oregon for 12 years and Alaska for 12 years. Her childhood was spent in Colorado. Beverly is married and has three adult children.
Beverly graduated from MEDEX Northwest, University of WA in 1993 and was a Community Health Practitioner in the remote village of Manley Hot Springs, Alaska from 1982 to 1990. She retired from health care in 2012.
Beverly’s love and passion for nature began at a young age when her family often went on camping and fishing trips in Colorado. While in Oregon she did a lot of solo hiking and thus discovered her interest in photography and birding. She is a self taught nature photographer who loves watching and photographing subjects in their natural environment. Beverly does not market any images of captive subjects. She takes pride in the fact that what you see in her photo is what she saw through her lens.
Beverly’s personal motto is: “Unplug and go outside!”
Beverly hopes that her work and passion will encourage more people to love and protect our living planet and the “wild ones” we share it with.
Below is a sampling of Beverly’s work. You can view more of her nature photographs at the Port Townsend Gallery or online at www.birdtrails.smugmug.com
