I recently had the opportunity to sail on the Hawaiian Chieftain, a tall ship sailing vessel currently docked at the city dock located at Pope Marine Park in Port Townsend. Gary and the crew were wonderful! They all were friendly and knowledgable, and the weather was perfect for sailing, low 70s with enough of a breeze to get the sails up for a nice, smooth gentle ride around Port Townsend Bay. The two-hour cruise was well worth the price of admission as we even got to witness a simulated rescue of a man overboard. Well, dummy overboard, actually. The Hawaiian Chieftain is still taking passengers out so if you’re looking something fun and different to do, check out their website for further info. and happy sailing!
